Hotel Rates
Sheraton Reservations:
The hotel was sold out, but more rooms are coming available as other guests cancel. Some are in our block, some not.
Single/Double:
$95 per night
Triple/Quad:
$115 per night
Suites:
$230 per night
To recieve the Philcon rate:
Call the Sheraton hotel at 215-448-2000.
Make a reservation.
If the rate is wrong, send our hotel liaison the name on reservation & the confirm # and we will try to get the rate corrected before you arrive. Email her at <>.
When you arrive, DO NOT SIGN THE CARD at the front desk until the RATE IS CORRECT. Once you sign, we CANNOT correct the rate. A Philcon Rep should be at the front desk during most of the check in Friday afternoon/evening.
Unfortunately, there is also another group using the hotel, so we cannot increase the size of our room block. In addition, all other hotels in the Center City area have advised us that they have no available space. We have secured 25 rooms at the Airport Hampton Inn for Friday and Saturday evenings at the Philcon rate of $109 per night plus tax. The Hampton is located just off of I-95 and is approximately a 15 minute drive from the Sheraton. You can park across the street from the Sheraton for $5 per day from 5:00 PM Friday through Sunday evening. Parking is free at the Hampton.
Should you not have a car available, the SEPTA airport train is available. Take the shuttle from the Hampton to any terminal, then board the train and ride to Suburban Station (the stop immediately after 30th Street). Exit the station and go north on 16th street approximately three blocks to the hotel. The cost of the train is $6.00 if purchased in advance, or $7.00 if bought on the train. Trains leave the closest terminal at 13 and 43 minutes past the hour and arrive at Suburban Station 22 minutes later. Going to the airport, trains leave Suburban Station on the hour and half-hour. The last train leaves Center City at 11:30 PM Friday and then starts again at 4:30 AM Saturday.
We also suggest you keep checking with the Sheraton as rooms may become available if people with reservations find they are unable to attend.
The Sheraton is located just one block off the Vine Street Expressway, an east-west artery (located below street level) that links the Schuylkill Expressway and I-95. MORE TO COME...
The Sheraton is located several blocks north of Suburban Station, the middle of three stations serving the east-west axis (subsurface) of the SEPTA Regional Rail system. It's an easy stroll, unless you're toting extensive luggage.
Philadelphia is served by Amtrak, which stops at the historic and recently renovated 30th Street Station on the west bank of the Schuylkill River.
Flying
Philadelphia International Airport is connected to Center City Philadelphia by SEPTA's R1 line, which interchanges with other Regional Rail lines at 30th Street Station.
Parking**
Hotel Parking
The Sheraton itself has on-site parking. Price is $32.00 per night for valet, $25.00 if you park yourself. (Unlike last year's hotel, valet service is not obligatory.) So, if you stay Friday and Saturday nights (and leave on Sunday), your bill will be either $50.00 or $64.00.
1540 Vine Street, with entrances on Spring (E-W) and 16th (N-S, between it and the hotel) Streets. Operates 24/7. Phone: 215-246-0300. Rates pertinent to the con (the webpage is misleading): $5.00 per each 24-hour period if you enter after 5:00 pm on Friday, until Monday 9:00 am. If you park at e.g. 3:00 pm, you'll be charged $2.00 per each 20-minute interval — and you won't automatically convert to the weekend rate when the clock hits 5:00 pm. You'll have to exit and re-enter.
Example: You park on Friday at 1:00 pm and leave at 4:40 pm. That's 3 hours 40 minutes, or 8x 20-minute periods: $16.00, except the meter plateaus at $13.00 for a stay up to 10 hours. You exit and return at 5:10 pm, enjoy the conference for the next two nights, then retrieve your car on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm. That's slightly less than two 24-hour intervals, so $10.00. Total parking bill: $23.00. (If, however, you picked it up at 6:00 pm, that would be three 24-hour intervals, so $15.00.)
Other Parking Lots
EZ PARK at 16th & Vine Streets, $10.00 per day.
EZ PARK at 17th & Vine Streets, $10.00 per day.
And a large flat open lot at 18th & Vine Streets, which takes oversized vehicles. $8.00 per day.
