Babysitting
NO BABYSITTING FOR 2006. Since no pre-registrations for babysitting service were received by the convention pre-registration deadline (31 October), that function will not be offered this year. No dedicated child care room, no dedicated child minders. We apologize for the inconvenience. However, please read on for the parameters that will apply in any future year that the service is offered.

BE ADVISED: there will be no walk-in babysitting. In general, children under seven years of age need not have a separate membership. HOWEVER, if you want to partake of babysitting services for a child (let's call him Verne), you must buy Verne his own membership, and it must be a pre-registration — an at-the-door purchase does not qualify. If there are no pre-registrations for babysitting before the pre-registration deadline (October 31st), Philcon will not offer babysitting, period.
As of 17 September 2006, this is Philcon's official policy. Please disregard any ambiguous or contradictory information presented in the six-page flyer or registration materials.
WHO? Babysitting is intended for children between the ages of three months and six years. If your children are seven or older, consider the activities offered by the Children's Program.
WHAT? Meals are not served, but juice and crackers are available as snacks. You must retrieve your child for dinner, and you must provide all other meals. Philcon reserves the right to refuse babysitting services from the outset, or to end services midway through the conference, for any child when we deem appropriate.
HOW MUCH? A fee of $50 per child is charged, which includes the cost of one regular child's membership ($20). This is described on the pre-registration form.
WHEN? In general, Babysitting runs until midnight, with a one-hour dinner break from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday You must retrieve your child for dinner. The full hours are:
