PHILCON 2006 is in the past, but PHILCON 2007 is only eleven months in the future! Or vice-versa, if you're living backwards. If you are, please ring us up with assurances that it went well. What, us worry about temporal paradoxes?

70 Years of Science Fiction Gatherings

Philcon 2006 celebrates the 70th anniversary of the first Science Fiction Convention, when The Philadelphia Conference of Science Fiction and Fantasy opens on Friday, November 17th, 2006.

Principal Speaker

Charles Stross is an award winning science fiction writer and is considered "one of the hottest short-story writers in the field." He has penned a great deal of science fiction from novels, such as Singularity Sky and The Atrocity Archives, to collections of short stories, such as Toast.

Artist Guest of Honor

Karl Kofoed is a science fiction illustrator. The Galactic Geographic, his magnum opus, is a regular feature in Heavy Metal magazine. He has illustrated S.P. Somtow's The Ultimate Mallworld, "Mr. Bill in Space" with Walter Williams and Jim Wilson, and has done many book covers and interior illustrations.

Special Guest

Tom Smith is the only artist to ever appear on both NPR's Sound and Spirit AND The Dr. Demento Show! Tom has won or shared twelve Pegasus Awards for Excellence in Filking, written songs for video and movies, and is working on a game soundtrack.

The Philcon Committee regrets that our previously announced Principal Speaker, Cory Doctorow, has had to cancel his appearance due to an unforseen scheduling conflict. We are sorry that Mr. Doctorow will be unable to attend, and we further regret any inconvenience that this may cause to anyone who was planning to attend Philcon to see him.
