What is Philcon?

The Philadelphia Science Fiction Society presents Philcon.

Philcon is the premiere regional conference of Science Fiction and Fantasy.

Philcon2003 is being held at the Marriott Center City Philadelphia on December 12th-14th, 2003.

What is Philcon?

It's the final week before Philcon 2003...

...and we're gearing up for a great convention...

Programming Schedule is now available in PDF format (852k). The actual printed pocket schedule will be available at the Philcon registration desk. A list of events and guest schedules will be made available online shortly.

GUEST NOTICE: Tim Hildebrandt will be unable to attend Philcon 2003 due to circumstances beyond his control. Greg Hildebrandt will still be attending, and a limited number of prints signed by both brothers will be available at the convention.

The Heinlein Society will be sponsoring a blood drive at the Marriott on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Please stop by their rooms and support the American Red Cross. They tell us they have free stuff!

Philly Outer Rim will sponsor a Toy Drive for Toys For Tots for the Philadelphia Area Toys For Tots chapter. Brand new, unwrapped toys can be dropped off at the Philly Outer Rim’s table location during the entire convention. The Philly Outer Rim is a Philadelphia area Star Wars fan club, trying to combine fandom and good causes for the greater Philadelphia area, more information can be found at: www.phillyouterrim.org. Toys For Tots is a wonderful long running charity with the U.S. Marines, bringing toys for needy children all over, more information can be found at: www.toysfortots.org.

Guest of Honor & Special Guests

Principal Speaker: Jack McDevitt is author of Infinity Beach, Ancient Shores, 'Time Travelers Never Die', 'Moonfall', and 'Good Intentions' (cowritten with Stanley Schmidt), his work was on the final Nebula ballot five successive years between 1997 and 2001.

Artist Guests of Honor: Greg & Tim Hildebrandt better known to the illustration world as "The Brothers Hildebrandt" began their careers 1959. The Brothers have worked on documentary films and thousands of illustrations for, text books, children's books, calendars, book covers, posters, comic books, advertisements, movie posters, production design for films, collectables and trading card games. They became internationally known for the original Star Wars movie poster and the 1976, 1977, and 1978 JRR Tolkien Lord of the Rings calendars.

Special Guest: Peter David is a prolific author with works in every conceivable media. His works include stories for television series, (Babylon 5, Crusade, and Space Cases), comic books (Spider Man, Hulk, Wolverine, and too many others to name here), and novels such as 'Howling Mad' and 'Sir Apropos of Nothing', as well as media novels for many of the Star Trek series, Babylon 5 and many movie adaptations.

Special Guest: Harry Harrison is author of 'Make Room! Make Room!' which he co-adapted into the SF classic 'Soylent Green'.

Other Guests include local Philadelphia Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror professionals. Editors, Authors, Writers, Illustrators, Artists, and many many more.
