Hall Costume Competition
This year, in addition to our Masquerade on Saturday, December 14th, Philcon will be holding a Hall Cos-tume Competition. Anyone is welcome to enter! Participants can register at the information booth starting Saturday morning, and will receive a special button that can be worn on their costumes. All attendees will receive a ballot and can vote for their favorite costume during the day. Winners will be announced and prizes distributed on Sunday, December 15th.
Costume Guidelines:
- All costumes must be suitable for public display and safety. The Philcon committee reserves the right to require that inappropriate costumes be modified or no longer displayed.
- Due to the open nature of the conference, Philcon’s Weapon Policy is in full force. No weapons or items that may be perceived as weapons may be part of the costume.
- Costumes may be hand made or purchased.
Voting Rules:
- Each member of the conference will receive a ballot when registering.
- Each member may vote once by completing a ballot with their badge number and their and choices, using the number displayed on the participants competition badge.
- Additional votes from the same badge number will be discarded. In the event a badge number is misused, all entries will be discarded unless the member to whom that badge was issued can be contacted to verify their vote.
- Each participant will receive 1 point for a place selection, 2 points for a place selec-tion and 4 points for a place selection.
- Votes will be deposited in a box located at the PSFS sales table. Voting hours will be consis-tent with those of the dealers room.
- The participants receiving the three highest point totals will win and place re-spectively. Prizes will be awarded as follows:
- 1st Place - $100 gift certificate to the Philcon Dealers Room;
- 2nd Place - $65 Gift Certificate to the Philcon Dealer’s Room;
- 3rd Place - $35 Gift Certificate to the Philcon Dealers Room.
- Votes will be tabulated by a judge appointed by the committee. His or her decision is final.
- Results will be posted 10:00 AM on Sunday, after which winners may collect their prizes.
Registration Rules:
- Participants must be registered members of Philcon.
- Participants must fully complete a competition registration form. Upon completion of registration, participant will be assigned a badge, which must be visibly displayed.
- There are no requirements as to what hours costume must be worn or displayed. For maximum exposure, it is recommended that costumes be shown as often as possible.
