Once again, the Phabulous Philcon Masquerade will be held on Saturday evening, with judging according to the International Costumer's Guild Guidelines. Under direction of Sandy Swank, this year's current President of The Lunatic Phrynge.
Our theme for this year's Masquerade will be "Out with the Old Millennium and In With the New Millennium." As this will be the last Philcon of the Old Millennium, we wanted to create a New Year's Eve style atmosphere, so we are planning to have things a bit different this year. We would like to extend a special invitation to our fans this year to compete both historical interpretation costumes as well as historical recreations, (which will include historical Sci-Fi costumes as well), as well as our traditional Sci-Fi/Fantasy costumes.
This year, we welcome a staff of 2 workmanship judges, as well as our presentation judges to include our traditional Special Guest Judge. The Awards portion of this years masquerade promises to be a real production in the spirit of the theme as we are planning the awards to be given out in the style of the Academy Awards show, with special costumed presenters announcing and giving out awards in the following categories:
To encourage the wearing of hall costumes, this year we will be issuing several awards specifically for hall costumes.
We will also feature costuming programming covering topics for all costumers, from Novices to Masters. We also, due to the content of the show this year hope to be able to arrange space to hold rehearsals prior to the masquerade.
Costume registration at the Con will open Friday at 3:30 PM and will close Sat at 4:00 PM. Preregistration will be made available prior to the Con. All registrations must be recieved prior to 4:00 PM on the date of the masquerade, otherwise will not be accepted.

No Weapons: guns, gun replicas, swords, knives, lasers, model lasers, or anything that could be perceived as a weapon by the public will be permitted at Philcon. The Philcon Committee has the final say on what constitutes a weapon. Unfortunately, we must reserve the right to revoke the membership of anyone who refuses to comply with this policy. The only exception is for registered participants of the Masquerade, who may wear a weapon, excepting guns and operational lasers, from one-half hour before to one-half hour after the Masquerade. All Masquerade weapons must be affixed to the costume. Participants in the Costumer's Workshop may also wear weapons with the same restrictions, while in the workshop.
