Philcon 97

Philcon traditionally sponsors workshops for writers and artists. These programs run during the day on Saturday, and are open to anyone interested in the subject. These workshops are run by professionals, or highly regarded competitors in their field.

Writers' Workshop:

If you wish to actively participate in the Writers' Workshop, send ten copies of a manuscript you would like to discuss. The manuscript should be a maximum of ten pages in length. Send it at least three weeks in advance of the convention to:

Philcon Writers' Workshop

Artisits' Workshop:

The Artists' Workshop will feature panels and demonstrations of interest to both professional and amateur artists. Topics will include the business side of Science Fiction art and illustration (dealing with art directors, contracts, etc.) as well as media and technique demonstrations

Poetry Workshop: Building Words and Worlds

How does genre poetry differ from mainstream poetry, or for that matter, genre fiction? Learn by crafting your own poem. We will discuss theories and methods during the first part of the workshop; during the second half, expect writing exercises.

NOTE: Bring your own paper and pencil/pen.
