![]() A recipient of the 1988 and 1989 Hugo Award for Professional Editor, Gardner Dozois has found gems of short and long science fiction stories in every facet of the sf genre, even delving into online sites in search of talented writers and their work. Gardner is a Philadelphia native, and it was perhaps his familiarity with the city's varied subcultures that led him to coin the enduring and endearing term "cyberpunk" while composing a 1984 review of the new generation of science fiction writers for the Washington Post. His most recent editorial work is the annual retrospective The Year's Best Science Fiction: Fourteenth Annual Collection, published in June 1997.
